carb closed, car don't stall???????

I noticed today that when i push my carb leaver down to intially fire up engine( should fire up for a breef second before shutting down)it don't stall and carries on reving, surely something aint right as usually this is just to fire and turn over the engine... does anybody know why this is happening or happened to them?
 
sorry forgot to say, marder stays ticking over fine with carb on or off which is wierd.
 
choke you mean. then it is way too lean for some reason. the choke, chokes off the air to get fuel in. if you open the choke it will be way over lean then and you either have the needle way out or there is an air leak somewhere
 
yeah choke, sorry thought so, new carb n head came loose a week ago but tjghtened it up.
