Is 32:1 a good number with castol 927 for a xt that's about 2 months old? Bought it used and it's my first fifth scale. Temperature where I live stays between 70-94 degrees.

In my opinion.. You better be nats ass on with your tuning skills to run 32:1 or you will be looking at a new head and piston. 927 is good but its only as good as your tune!

I'm new at this. Is it 32 ounces of gas to 1 ounce of oil = 32:1 ? And i am tuned well but probably not perfect, what would be a good mix that's more unlikely to mess up anything?

If your new to this.. I would stick with 25:1 until you have mastered tuning then bump it to 28:1 That will give you a little wiggle room for temperature and altitude changes.

20:1 = 6.4 oz per gal

25:1 = 5.12 per gal

32:1 = 4.0 oz per gal

I have built, modified, run, and raced 2 stroke engines for nearly 60 years, have ran various mixtures all the way up to 100:1 (with synthetics).

In my humble opinion what we are dealing with here are rather crude little engines with even cruder fuel delivery devices. Yes they run great and even better once modified but require large quantities of lubrication to survive at the rpms they are capable of reaching. Not to mention their operating temps.

I do a lot with ESP (Earth Surfer Products) engines and Doug the owner strongly recommends castor 927 at a 20:1 ratio for his products and I wholeheartedly agree.

I have already made one gallon of 30:1 so I'm just going to add 2.4 Oz of oil and run it. Thanks guys.
