I'm going to be headed out for a trip to IL, and the resort has WiFi. I have never used WiFi outside my house. Is there anything i should be worried about? All i do is surf, and check email, i don't have my Bank stuff on my laptop, and i don't keep any card info on it. Is it relatively safe? I know millions do it everyday.

You will have to search for your local signal and get a password from the host if needed. Most hotels if they don't charge for it will not have a PW or you can get it from the front desk if needed.
Just to be safe make sure you enable your windows firewall.
Its always a good idea to backup.
