I need help. I am having trouble installing the rubber grommet into my dbxl gas tank. Anyone have any tips or tricks. Also Anyone running the dgi tank? Do the universal grommets sold by Detroit performance fit either stock or dgi tanks. This is an extremely frustrating issue. No on has a stock tank. Those are x also prone to leaking. Any ideas please help.
 
A little wd-40 on the grommet and you should be able to work it in. I did have one problem with mine, the dbxl tank seems to be on the thin side and it cut my grommet. I used the ones from DDM and they worked. I do have an assortment of plastic trim tools for automotive trim, they work good too and wont cut into the grommet.
 
Try warming up the grommet a little , either put it out in direct sun for a while or a little heat from a heat gun.
I actually bought a DGI tank when my original tank decided to have itself a leak at the seam but never installed the one from DGI since LOSI replaced my leaker free of charge.
 
I run the DGI tank, had to do some mods to get the mounts to work on the DBXL 2.0 as the tank is made for the 1.0, also had to CA glue the grommet in as it would constantly leak but the tank itself is good.
