I thought I was running on the rich side and my engine died. Just wondered if this has happened to anyone else.

That is what I was thinking. It looked like machined aluminum came in from the intake. I was hoping there would have been better quality control since it was almost 800 bucks.

I was running the stock MCD filter with PJ1 filter treatment and an Outerwear ove the top.

I run Motul 2t.

Does look just like it has ingested something , and I doubt it would be residual in the engine anywhere, as that would happen as soon as it was first started.
What oil to fuel ratio do you run?
What mixture settings ?
Was it super hot ?

1107 MOD= Base setting is 2 turns out on high and 1107 MOD= Base setting is 1 3/8 turns out on low.
What is considered hot? The only experience with gas was in boats. Heat is not a problem.

Looks like the leg broke off the clip. That will wreck an engine. The leg is supposed to be at 12 or 6 o'clock because the violent up and down motion can actually bend and work harden it until it breaks off if not positioned in line with piston travel.

Is a Taylor considered a knock off?
i take it the engine is a taylor fella,
if the engines fairly new then email mike taylor, include some of the pics above,
especially the wrist pin clips, he may help you out with a fresh top end if it looks like a clip failure,

Taylor engines are completely different design from Zenoah , with no compatible parts , they are designed and manufactured in house.
They have a very very good reputation, as good if not better than Zenoah.
It is rare to encounter such a problem, as Spents said ,contact Taylor engines with the pictures .
Looks like just a top end rebuild anyhow.
