Hi guys,

Im new to the large scale stuff, just got a Baja, brilliant fun when the power comes in, but just a bit numb off the spot. Does the red springs make a big difference? Does the clutch wear out quicker or is it still ok. I don't race just bash so the more fun I can have the better.

Whats everyones opinions.

Cheers

Gazza

Recently changed to the higher RPM spring - Yes, it does make a big improvement with the stock or any other motor to increase the motors R's into more of a sweet spot for starting. Not sure on the wear yet but I will take replacement sooner for the performance now.:)

Your engine will continue to get better after the 5th tank. I would wait until then and see if you need improvements. I just basha nd the stock spring does well for me. I see alot of people switching over, but for me, in the dirt, I like the regular one.

USA is right your engine will bed in an get better an better

to relive the wear rate on the clutch shoes, then reverse them
this allows them to ingage in a better way,an grip better,an the wear is lessened

at the minute the baja's clutch shoes, are a bone of contention, cause they actually, open the wrong way!

if you look at the clutch shoes,an the rotation of drive, they open arse first

this is beacuse HPI,took the engine,an reversed it,putting the filtter towards the front, but did nothing about the clutch

so it wears, the clutch out very fast,an all at the back end of the shoe, sometimes, with little wear to the front of the shoe

as for the red spring,i can say nothing but good things, about it,it increases the of the line speed,an top end,as instead of getting that slight bogging,it allows the engine to rev,a bit more, hence clear its self out an set off better

note, when you reverse the shoes around, you will lower the enguagment rpms. so if you do flip them, i recommend installing the higher engaugement spring, so it will kick in about the same as the stock spring and the shoes installed normally.

if you use just the stock spring, you ll kick in about 5000rs instead of 6000 give or take.
