Like the title says, if you have any experience with this please list the pros and cons. I have been using the original gearing 16/48 for a while and I wonder if its worth experimenting with this other gearing? I don`t want it to get to slow in the acceleration but I still want it to have a good top speed.

Just try mate, i think it will work out fine! What setup engine exhaust you have?
I dunno but i guess stock will work fine to, i had 20/44 on my marder, with stock engine and fg baja wheels.. I still had to much wheelspin (:

You will lose a little on low end take off..but will gain it back on the top end speed...
20/42 is good for more speed on top end......What are you using on your lay shaft?
14?16? gear...diff 48?....I read some place about a 50 tooth for the rear diff...
May have to open up the chassie hole a bit.for that gear....Slawhammer

Hi!

I have a ported Oneill Brothers 27,2 head kit togehter with a Samba pipe.

I have the 18 on with buggy tires and a stock 26 with pipe. going to toss the mt tires on next outing and see. I think it'll work fine. might lose the wheelies a bit but overall be a better performer.

I ran a 20/42 on a standard 26cc CY MT and you could fry an egg on the bell housing! you could smell the clutch burning from 10 ft away.I wouldn't advise that set-up.

18/46 is no problem for your setup ;)

Voo2doo, 20/42 isnt a good setup, it should be 20/44, anyways, 20/44 is WAY WAY to heavy for a stock monster.. And 20/42 is even havier then 20/44. i thought the stock setup for monster was 16/48? A tuned one could run 18/46..

I know, thats why i only used it for about five minutes. It was just an experiment.I think the stock set-up is more than ok.

im using 16/48 16/48

stock is 16/48 14/48

i was thinking of going 19/48 14/48 but i has a spare 16 tooth so i used that instead.

16/48/16/48 is fast and less wheelies its more conrolled take offs with good top end, my truck untuned is moving out in my opinion
