hi guys :)

ok today i had 2 drive axle cups snap on me! both on the right hand side, 1st to go was the diff output cup, then the 2nd which went later on in the day was the wheel one! :(

So, is there stronger ones available or only the FG ones? Also what about Ball Drive? is balldrive better for bashing/offroad or am i best stick with the standard type?

ta :)

Were they worn mate or just unexpectedly snapped? Mine are showing signs of wear so are on my list to replace but I will be sticking with standard items. The pins through the drive shafts have flattened off big time so looks like these will be 1st to go. I haven't looked into it but assume you can replace the pins rather than the full shaft??

hiya mate :)

well, the drive shats were brand new, bought em other day & today was the 1st time they were used, its the actual cups that went snap, but the cups were about 6 years old (still the original ones on there from when i bought my MB Pro!) lol

As for changing the pins on drive shafts, i don't think you can as there put in at factory & they in solid! ..but its only about £15 for 2 new drive shafts fella :)

Yeh think im gunna stick with the stock drive & pass on the balldrive, just weird how both went at different times today after fitting new drive shafts! :(

Yeah strange! Mine are still the originals so 4yrs old now & could do to be changed before they go the same way. Cheers for the heads up on the shaft pricing ;)

If you are not off the gas when it lands or hits hard all the stress goes into the drive cups. The only times I have broken mine is when I was on throttle and it came down or hit something solid. WIsh they were a bit less expensive.

i had them on for a good 6 years & ive had many worse landings than the ones yesterday, guess they were just weak & was just a matter of time :(

aye they are a lil expensive, & wish they did upgraded ones that were stronger! :(

I just can't imagine there any more expensive then the Firehammer ones and those are way cheaper. Guess we will have to see if the clone ones will work.

firehammer and fg outdrives are not interchangable. the fg uses a larger diameter spline, meaning the firehammer (and im assuming all carson and other clones) cups wont work. i also found the firehammer cups to be very soft and wear quite fast

ive only ever snapped one drive cup and that was due to a hard head on with another 1/5 rc. like stated above if you land on the gas this will happen.

ive got the fg ball drives on my 2WD, don't know if this would be a better option for you.
