Hi, new to this forum and new with Gas powered Rc cars, only driven 1/10 and 1/8 Nitro.
But bought this car from a guy in Norway because he couldnt get it to start, hope that is an easy fix.
Looking at options to upgrade it to 4x4 down the line, but will see how it runs once I get to work with it.
don't know much about the car, and neither did the seller(got the car real cheap), but assume its a 1/5 size?
Is there any simular cars i can use parts from to rebuild it to 4x4 or do i have to buy the conv. Kit for the Marder?
Its missing the sender and receiver, can i use the one i have for my 1/8 nitro truck or do i have to buy something thats fits specially for this size?

Brgds

Id start with a new spark plugπŸ‘ fresh tank of gas πŸ‘ and rest the high and low needles on the carbπŸ‘ then see what happens
Yeah, will change the plug and the gaslines(has been standing for a while not being used).
Regarding the high/low needles, is there any set point they need to be in, like factory setup?
Know this was good to have when struggling with my nitro truck

If its got a choke flap, it's probably the stock 668 Carb.
This will help.
Screw both needles all the way in gently. Then back the L out to 1 and 1/4turns and the high around 1 and 1/2. This should get you in the ball park to start it πŸ‘Screenshot_20181231-190303.jpg

Not starting could be a number of things. Spark, fuel, or compression. Work your way back from simple. When you press the bulb on the carb, does it get fuel? When you pull the cord a few times and remove the spark plug, does the inside of your engine smell like petrol? If yes, then you're getting fuel.

Next, pull the spark plug and hold its threaded portion down on the head of the motor to ground it. Then pull the starter cord a couple times. Does the plug spark at all? Is the spark light blue to white? If it doesn't, first try a new spark plug. If you don't get a strong spark after replacing the plug, double check the ignition gap. You will need to pull off the pull starter and side cover. Loosen the ignition bolts until the ignition unit can be moved around, place a standard business card between the flywheel and ignition, then re-tighten the ignition bolts and try again. If still no spark, it could be the spark plug wire, or the entire ignition. You can get a new ignition with plug wire for $30 US.

If you are getting fuel, and getting spark, the next step is compression. Pull the starter, and turn the flywheel with your fingers. If the flywheel moves through an entire rotation without any kind of "lump" sensation, then you most likely don't have enough compression to fire the engine. At this point, either replace the piston and head, or look at grabbing another motor.

Best of luck!

Well thanks all for good advises, will check whats wrong with it once i get back to Norway and collect it.

Bought the car for 70$ and it usually are sold for around 400$ and up in Norway so i don't expect an easy fix.
If it's only sparkplug related problems, my good friend e-bay will support me πŸ˜‚

Regarding the receiver/sender, can i use the one i have for my 1/8Nitro or wouldn't that work??(cant see why)...

Should be OK, but make sure you have a 3rd channel to operate a kill switch.
A kill switch is normally the first mod recommended
