Hi All,
I have read mixed information regarding the Large Engine Mount for the FH. I want to replace mine with the alloy, but I'm not 100% sure that the FG one would fit or not, taht part # is FG6486. Or do I need to order the one from Hobbythek in Germany ? Has anyone tried the FG mount yet ? Any help would be great. Thanks
 
I think if you want FG large mount on the FH buggy you would need to replace the gear plate and pinion gear. The large mount is made to accommodate the FG gear plate which is slightly off from the FH's. If you did not replace the additional items it would make the spur shaft run at an angle (untrue) which would take out the rear gears and bearings throughout.:(
 
Oh well, I guess I'll take the easy way out and just order the mount from Hobbythek in germany. I also noticed that my bearing for the lay shaft is a little damaged, any idea on a part number for that one at Hobbythek ? I can't seem to find it on their web site ? I hope the large alloy mount from Hobbythek will work ? LOL
 
Measure it I think it is a 10x19x7 you could PM or email TFE and see if he has two you can buy, remember there is one in the motor mount and one in the gear carrier. http://www.teamfasteddy.com/ I think they are mostly sold in a set of 10. I am in the midst of installing both the large and small motor mounts and just gave up on the dang alloy Duratrax rear diff cage that has been on a boat somewhere for over two months and is now again postponed until maybe end of this month. I went down and picked up another FG alloy cage since I just did my Fg's and bought a AMS stainless sleeve from python to complete the rear bullet proofing.:cool2:
 
I get all my parts from DPS. He's a really nice bloke to deal with. If he doesn't have them in stock he can get fairly quick and you might find his price is fairly cheap. Email him..........nothing to lose there...lol

I'll just have to find the time in the next day or two to get it ordered. BTB, I've also been waiting for the duratrax Alloy Diff from Towerhobbies, like you siad it must be stuck on a boat somewhere over the rainbow. LOL Do you know if the FG alloy diff cage will work without any mods ? I think I saw some where on here that it will ? not sure though, I'll have to try large scale rc. Agian thanks for all the info guys, I'm still very new and wet behind the ears when it comes to Large Scale.

I will be making a thread tonight on the install and extra part needed. The FG one is about $20.00 more but from the looks of the way its made it is worth the $20.00.:)
