I just built a new release 5B. I noticed about a 1mm axial play when assembling the front hubs. Didn’t really worry about it. But after only 20 runs with no bashing or jumping the front bearings are already shot. Thinking they are getting hammered axialy from the play plus I think they are poop bearings that come stock. Ordered from NSK 6901s and will find some shims to remove that play when I change the bearings out. Just wondering if anyone else had the same experience.

Back on the road. New bearings and shims did the trick. The kit bearings are not very good. New NSK bearings are way smoother and much better quality. I get it. They can’t use $10 bearings in the kit so no complaints. Hopefully now these will last a long time.
