I’ve had this baja 10yrs , time for a rebuild , this thread will be slow as I’m busy with my machining business which I now do full time , I started up 2 weeks before the Uk went into its first lockdown , talk about bad timing .

This will probably be a controversial build on here but some may like it some may not , kind of like marmite .

There’ll be a mixture of new and second hand parts and also parts I manufacture.

Fruitbat, as you know its all about keeping it interesting and fun for yourself, we all have our own opinions on what we like, and thats what is great about this hobby. Look forward to seeing what you come up with, I enjoy building and machining myself although I would never make parts to sell, too much of a self critic on tolerances and surface finish.

He's the guy that's been making the battery box's etc for the Vekta stateside.

Split the rear end from the chassis as it’s the rear end that will be getting the make over .

It’s a hybrid , half turtle racing and half , cough cough Rovan

I was having binding problems with the full TR kit , hence the mod.

Yeah I had the same with TR stuff when it was new. I found loosening everything off and then tightening in certain order sorted it.

Can’t remember the order now, slept since then.

no idea , I bought it second hand years ago and never got around to fitting it , now I’m doing a rebuild I thought I might as well use it .

You need to stop sniffing the two stroke oil

A bit more done today , gearbox strip down , but it just did‘nt feel right when I put it all togeather in the TR case .

I then found out the gear that goes onto the diff was a different size .







Only 0.2mm but it made a big diffrence .




All built up and fitted to the Bonehead rear chassis plate .
