Hey guys,

What is the proper gear mesh on the pinion and spur gear on the Baja 5T? Should there be some play in it or should it be tight? I have the metal pinion and plastic spur gear! Also, should you put any kind of lubricate on them? Grease or something? Thanks.

Hi Richard,

The gears should be snug. They should not be too tight as that will cause binding and you will loose performance. Too loose and the plastic gear's teeth will strip. A happy middle is what you want.
You can do the paper test. You cut a piece of paper the width of the gear and pass it between them. if the paper is torn, they are too tight. The paper should be like a little accordion when you pull it out.

No lubrication is necessary. At least i've never put any in mine.

That's true, i forget that on 1/5 scales they are pre-set.

Forget everything i said, that pertains to 1/8 scale and smaller.. ;)

Gear Mesh

Not a real problem as mine is an E-Conversion with a Neu 2215 2Y motor, which is adjustable, and a CC Hydra HV240 ESC, running 12S Lipos! Thanks for the good advice, it will help a lot!

Actually, on further inspection, I can't adjust my motor either as it mounts into the standard motor mount clutch bell assembly! So, I guess what it is it is! Thanks. again guys!
