Glitching throttle servo ticking me off!!!

I just got the buggy back together. If anyone remembers I was having glitching issues with the stock radio equipment. I installed a new 3pmx radio with reciever. New Hitec servos and a killer bee v2. The only thing original is the battery pack. The throttle servo is still glitching. Also I have a 50% chance of the v2 flooring it or killing it. I think that might be the radio/servos not adjusted right. The glitching is what's getting me. When I first turn on the electrical equipment it barely does it, the longer it stays on the worse it gets. I am open to any ideas. Also which servo do y'all have the killer bee wired to?
 
Sounds like your Hitec throttle servo is bad. If you get any twitching I would almost guarantee a runaway as for the kill switch I thought they plug into the auxiliary channel.
 
Well, the radio equipment and the servos are new. This was happening before with the factory electronics, correct? What about the on/off switch? Is that new also? I'd check anything you didn't already replace.


You can hook up the kill switch to the steering channel by using a splitter cable, or since it's a 3 channel system you can hook it up to the 3rd channel. You won't be able to kill the engine with the 3rd channel since it's a V2. You have to turn off the radio to kill it. Also, be sure to do a bench test to make sure it's working properly.
 
I stayed up most of the night tinkering but it sucks that my multimeter died 2 seconds into trying to figure this out.


- My servos worked fine on another car, ruled them out


- Removed killer bee, ruled out


- Bypassed the switch, ruled that out


- Installed radio equipment from another car (except steering servo) , still glitched


Something i noticed last night that i havnt noticed before is that the steering servo buzz's pretty bad. I think this may be due to some adjustments off on the transmitter. I figured that would be the next place to start. I am also going to put a fresh charge on the batteries even though i am confident they are good and then start looking into an interference issue.
 
I think i did something stupid - Live and learn i guess. I am very new to these new radio's and after reading a bunch of diffrent threads i think i may be trying to run in HPS mode. I did a whole bunch of fiddling last night and it is very possible that i changed it. Actually i seem to remember seeing that on the LCD. Also i think the problem with it taking off half the time was my mistake also. I was messing with the failsafe and i bet i set it to full throttle instead of brake. That would explain it.


Does this sound right to yall? Would running in HRS mode with analog servos cause the glitchy throttle and the very loud buzzing steering servo?


I hope so, cause this would be an easy fix.


Next time i will read the instructions.
 
well i was having a similar problem with my throttle servo glitching i had the killer bee v2 on a split with that servo and it glitched while the motor was running.....i put it on the steering channel and no more glitches....and as for the buzzing with the steering i had that also and i realized the turnbuckle for the steering arm wasn't adjusted right so it was pulling on the servo at idle causing strain on it hence the buzz....once i adjusted em right it went away
 
I will check into that. I also discovered when I got home that my battery charger isn't working. Not sure how long it has been that way. I dug out a cheap charger and the hump pack has been charging at 1.5 amps for 45 minutes so it must have been pretty dead. So I have not got anything done tonight. After the hump pack is done I will need to charge the transmitter batteries.
 
It was pretty dead and if that wasn't my problem I am sure it contributed to it. I made a mistake above. It was charging at 2.5 amps and took 51 minutes. If my math is right the battery completely dead should have taken 1 hour. I have transmitter batteries on there now, but with the aa's I am only charging at .5 amps since they don't seem to like charging above that. I have had that charger for 20 years and this is the first time it let me down.
 
Damn it!!!! Steering servo just smoked. I swear I can't win with this. On the plus side, right before it smoked there was no glitching I went to bind it, it wouldn't bind. I flipped of the radio and it smoked so bad it melted the case.
 
Tonight i finall yfigured it out definatley this time. I have been cranking up the buggy and running it on the stand every night until my steering servo comes in. I havnt had any issues, then tonight the the throttle servo started glitching. I turned off the radio and it went to full throttle. Even the push button kill switch wouldnt work. I pulled of the shroud and one of the cables came off. Inside the shroud i could see some arc marks. I guess it has been arching for sometime causing interference ( By the way, i have never been glitch free but i have gotten it miniaml). I connected back the wire and insulalated everything. i then fired it back up and there was absoluley no movement at all. It finally acted like it is suppose to. I cant believe this was the issue but now i am home free i hope. Just waiting on the replacement servo and i can finally test out all the other mods.
 
COOL Glad you found your problem, I have been following along with this thread since the begining, and now I have another "problem solved" to put into my memory bank, I just hope I will remember if I ever have the same problem!!!
