The two screws centre the shaft that carries the thrust bearing, if you tighten the screws one way the locking effect will increase and vice versa. Usually I adjust so it feels how I want it, then tighten one of the screws up to prevent it from changing.
Yes, I know that I should unscrew one and tighten one. But which screw is which? Should I tighten the one that sits on the top of the diff? (that will press the axel down on the thrust bearing)
