Hey basher5iveT420
It's pretty easy?? to get complete units off. Take your own pictures ....also put the screw back in the holes they came out of. take pics. Only thing I'd warn you about don't over tighten?? take more pics use them all as references to see how it all goes back
don't panic its easy ??

So today I finally took apart the front diff, it seemed a bit low on oil but everything else appeared fine.
No chipped spider gears or metal shavings any where.

My main reason for taking out the front diff was because I felt something was jamming/ grinding in there.

I would roll it just on the rear wheels and it is smooth as butter.
If I would roll it on just the front wheels, it will roll a little rough and then you’ll feel grinding/ jerking....

I put everything back together and it feels a little better but I still feel something grinding.

I will take apart the middle diff next and inspect.

But You guys have any other ideas as to what it could be ???

Bro that's your break disc catchING it's a jerk grind thingy

@crucialRC I didn’t check that, I’ll take it apart and check for this......

The only thing I noticed was there is some play in the center drive shaft - It slides in and out maybe 1mm. ???

@Losi125 i don’t know man, my other 5iveT doesn’t do this. It’s super smooth.

This 5iveT, feels rough when you rolling it. If you roll it 4-5 feet. It gets smooth for maybe 1-2 feet before it starts grinding and making a clunking sound sorta.

The grinding and clunking sound isn’t as bad after I put everything back together. But it still doesn’t feel very smooth....

Also the only differential oil I had on hand was 100k, Hopefully this doesn’t throw anything off.

Back in the day, I had a Hpi baja. I would only use automotive grease in my differential.
Never had any issues. Have any of you done this with the 5iveT???

From everything I read online. The popular options are the silicon oils. So that’s what I got. 100k for front & rear and 300k for center.

Small update....

I took it for its first official run and man this 5iveT is a screamer. Ran a full tank. Mix of WOT runs, idling, slow and fast take off’s and braking.

Right now it’s running perfect, the tune is on point.
This one feels faster and screams at top end.

My other 5iveT doesn’t feel this quick
They both have the same engine. Just different Air intake & exhaust. ?

I ditched the stock radio system and installed a 3ch Flysky I had laying around which allowed me to set the end points properly. And now I have the extra channel for the kill switch.
I still have the grinding/ clunking sound.... i wonder is a seized bearing can cause this sorta symptom ????

I took apart the center diff, again everything looked good. Nothing broken no metal shavings any where. All bearings were super smooth.

The only thing I noticed was the Center diff doesn’t align properly to the pinion on the engine.

If you look closely you’ll see it’s not align properly but the gearing mesh is good. They just don’t align, if I loosen up the screws that hold the center diff I’m able to align it but as I tighten everything back up it ends up like this every time ?????

Losi and hpi use different length clutch housings losi a few mm shorter than the hpi......could be a miss match there

This is from the ddm zen 32 page (nb this goes for all clutch housings)

bb125c - This is the factory version of the motor - comes exactly as manufactured by the Zenoah factory, with no modifications. Fits HPI Baja 5B/5T/5SC, Kraken Vekta.5, Helicopter, Go-Ped, etc. This is the version that will work properly for most applications

bb125d - This version of the engine has a modified "shorty" clutch housing - For R/C cars that were originally designed specifically for CY engines, which have less total engine width. Fits Losi 5ive, Losi Desert Buggy XL (DBXL), and Redcat. A CY fan cover must also be used for this engine to fit a Losi 5ive, Losi DBXL or Redcat. This is the stock fan cover from your Losi 5ive, Losi DBXL or Redcat. We also have these fan covers available for purchase separately (see item eg411), also at the bottom of this page in the "related items".

Took the engine out... this is what I found

This was the outside bearing @Cupton79 pointed out.....
I need help finding this bearing, I have a fast eddy bearing kit. But this one isn’t in there.

This bearing is pretty beat up....

The bolt holding on the pinion gear was super tight. No idea how this bearing popped out like that.
