Hey guys my wife may be buying me a 5t for christmas. What problems if any have you had with them?, and what are the ultimate but not to expensive upgrades for it?
Thanks.

Loads of people have their own opinions, most from personal experiences - the hopups, or how they purchased them.
Perhaps have a good read through the Baja section - there's been loads on who does what in the last few years.

Can you even get a 5t since they been discontinued and the 5SC replaced it?

Top two up grades in my opinion is a remote kill switch and a Turtle racing clutch set up.

rollcage quick disconnect mod is by far the most used upgrade on mine. it makes wrenching less of a p.i.t.a. (yes mine is a km)

yes you can i found some used on ebay, and 1 new at a hobby shop. I don't want a 5sc i hate the way they look, plus in all the videos that i have seen on you tube they look extremely slow, compared to the baja 5t.

Yes you can find them use all the time. If you find a new one might be better to get it now while they are still available. The SC should not be any slower as the are VERY similar to the T. All HPI baja 5b 5t and 5sc are very similar and use many of the same parts. I prefer the 5b as they are lighter and the bodies cost about 1/5 what the 5t and SC cost. What ever you get when you get it post pictures.

be careful what you buy .....the plastic diff housings in the ready built hpi trucks do blow up....................:D

try putting your location IN your user CP.........this will help point you in the right direction for parts

Not sure when but HPI did away with the plastic diff housings and now all have the alloy. If you buy anything used I recommend you tear it down and go through everything.

Thanks I am most likely going to try to buy new.

upgrade as needed. do not go all crazy and buy a bunch of upgrades at once. These things can get very expensive if you go hop up crazy. There are a few upgrades that are good to get right away, like outerwears, axle extenders, and Team Chase Carb filter. A Killer Bee killswitch is a necessity and should be purchased at the same time as the vehicle.

where ever your located fireman.......

this you could have had new and unused 10K .........with a few little upgrades
