That does not seem like a terrible price. I figured it to be in the $1,100.00 range.

I'm surprised it took HPI this long...they had the savage 5t in europe quite some time ago and with companies like TCS Crawlers and Kershaw designs making conversion kits, it's just surprising they didn't jump on this sooner

Not a copycat, but I think the Redcat XB-E may have opened up some eyes at HPI.
