I just received my KM 2.0 yesterday and I have to say I was astonished at the size of the thing. Good Lord, I never thought it would be that big even though I knew the dimensions beforehand. I fueled it with Stihl chainsaw oil and 93 octane gasoline and it sounds and runs great. My only female dog is the antenna. Mine broke off and I will be forced to expedite a new radio system/servos/failsafe/kill switch. I'll go 3 channel in order to make this happen.

I'll be posting frequently until I get it all sorted out. The car still runs even though there is no antenna protruding from the car.

I give the car two thumbs up so far. Can't wait for the ice to melt as the knobbies don't seem to like it that much.

Cat,do yourself a favour and check every nut, bolt and anything that moves before you run it.These things have had some build issues in the past.
Also get shut of the radio gear and servos, they are shite!.

Heres mine, absolutely made up with it.Never had an issue with it apart from the radio gear.I had a runaway that cost me a chassis, front arm, wheel and various small bits.

I just ordered:

Futaba FSU-2 Micro Fail Safe Unit
Futaba 3PM 3-Channel FM/No Servos
Hitec HS-5755MG Digital Giant Scale HT Metal Gear (steering 347 oz. in. @ 6V)
Hitec HS-805BB Mega Giant Scale 2BB Servo (throttle) (224 oz. in. @ 6V)

Tonight I will go over the car and check each nut and bolt as well as better orient myself with the machine.

My order should be in sometime after Christmas. Oh crap, I forgot a kill switch.

Futaba's a reputable make, of that there's no doubt, but if you can, try to upgrade to the 2.4GHz. Much less hassle, better range, no visible antenna ....

I like the old style antenna, it will better remind me of the radio system that was stolen along with the Tamiya Juggernaut 2 in May of this year. Some cretin broke into my storage unit and stole everything of value including the R/C truck that this baja replaced in grand fashion.

I know the feeling,i lost a fg and a savage xl to a dirty sticky fingered thief once...

Replacing the servos & radio gear will cure the biggest drawback of the KM from what I have read on here. Anything else can be replaced with HPI parts as you break it :w00t: Enjoy!

I've a Jugg 2 I'm completing, with the multi-link ESP suspension, into which I've fitted 2.4 GHz to use my Spektrum DX3 with other trucks, Traxxas EVX2 ESC, 2x 550 modified brushed motors and twin 2S LiPo - it's nearly as fast as my E-Maxx and is much more stable .... but that's not this topic.

I'm sure you're going to enjoy the change, which is really quite radical !!!:lol:

I went out this morning to a nearby park to run the KM and was having a great time with the buggy. I immediately saw how the failsafe works...heck of a feature. I ran it around on the grass then spied a parking lot nearby and figured what the heck. I had a gut feeling that something was going to go wrong and it did. Next time I'll trust my gut feeling. As I was doing a full throttle run back towards me, I merely grazed a curb and lost my right front wheel. The center of the wheel broke out totally. I stopped the car but was unable to stop the wheel which just kept rolling for about 100'. I picked up the car, wheel, and my pride and drove back home. I ordered a complete set of wheels from TH for the HPI Baja. I'll be out of commission until they are delivered and installed.

I only grazed the curb at about 50 mph.

If I only broke a wheel off I would have been happy. About an hour ago I attempted to remove the left front tire and discovered that the lower A-arm was just hanging there. Apparently I hit a small box type hole that was cut into the asphalt (with some type of saw presumably) a little harder than I thought. The plastic piece that supports all the aluminum front suspension parts had shattered. Luckily a replacement was sent with the car. I also noticed a large chunk of my rear skid plate is also gone. I just got done reassembling the front suspension where ball drivers and a cordless drill would have been awesome. I guess before too long I'll have an HPI Baja so to speak.

What can I do to stiffen the shocks besides tightening the springs? I think I'm bottoming out.

OK, I ordered 2 additional HPI front bulkheads and 2 rear skid plates. I'm going to have to get some HPI stickers soon.

Good Lord, that big boy ought to rock.

Yup, the old Need for Speed thing again !!!
After having seen a stock (very) wobbly Jugg2, you'd be amazed just how stable it is, and I still have 4WS !!

That's why it's work in progress, bodywork requires a little attention !!
I like the Jugg2 body and want to keep that, else I could easily go ProLine.

I own three HPI Bajas and I will tell ya now to get extra drive shafts, front A arms, shock shafts, set of wheels and a heat sink for the pinion gear. The bolt will break off in the clutch.Take it apart and inspect every part in it,found many screws loose, diff had little to no oil and had misc plastic pieces in the diff. The motor was another whole headache, ran it for 1 tank.Idle was kinda funny so I gave it a good look over, the CY two bolt engine has a head gasket problem.Solved it by puting a copper gasket in its place.Im an ASE Master tech and founder of the PORTLAND GROUND POUNDERS,(pics on Facebook)I have many years running these trucks and have found most of the weak points.Once you get the carb set you wont have to mess with it at all, been running mine for two years without touching it.I run Benol two stroke and my brother uses amsoil 100-1,these have proven to be the very reliable oils.Good luck ,have fun,be careful where you run it.We have had a few runaways when playing in the mud, dirt binds up the throttle. So keep it clean as possible!!!

on drivshafts, i got a set of the DS meaty bones, if you get a set of those, only things on them you SHOULD have to replace are the cross pins you can get seperately for replacements, theyre made to be replaceable.

haven't had any issues with head gasket on mine, yet, anyways, runs super great so far, did a slew of upgrades on it after 2 tanks of gas run, mostly in the suspension areas, hostile rear hubs, with ds extensions, meaty bones with hostile boots, alloy quik split tranny, alloy 3 point cluth carrier, rear alloy shock tower supports and rear brace for it, it has already installed the 2 speed gearing, front end has alloy hubs now, no ds extensions, i tried them and control was all over the place, waay to touchy, put stock wheel hubs back on alloy hubs and got my control back, front alloy tower and braces, and front alloy x brace, and also alloy steering assembly.

and aftermarket angled neck uni shorty filter, with redneck filter and a Vstack.

if you want a easy gain on power, a Vstack bolt on is a must, mine seems to have more grunt to it now with that in place.

Tulare on ebay has them, ive got alot of the upgrades from him, and hes a super guy to deal with, he works with ya and helps out if your not sure what your lookin for, he can point ya in the right directions.

sounds like you got most of it under control, now its time to fine tune all that you have to your driving skills and learn how to fine tune the carb for best performance.Quick response without burning it up,dealt with one at Monster jam just a couple weeks ago.It kept quiting on him every time he let off the throttle after a long high speed pass. Was way too lean on bottom end with a rich ratio mixture of 20-1.Removed his fuel and put ours in without changes, much better then fine tuned.Happy as can be!!!Have fun!!!!!
