I move a lot thanks to the government
My MT has only had 3 tanks so far. The first two tanks were burned at idle until empty. On the third tank, I took it to the nearby school parking lot to continue the break in....I took it easy and the MT managed to impress me until towards the end of the 3rd tank. The MT started sort of binding as I let it come to a stop on its own. It also started developing a cling type noise which I just found out it is coming from the clutch bell.

How to I know this? Well, the frigging bearing on the A gear is hosed for good.

My questions are:

1-Are the bearings on these MT garbage?

2-What exactly does the group think happened to this bearing? I did a loctite party and I did go over everything!

3-What is a top notch replacement for these bearings? Share a link, part number pls. I want to replace all 3.

4-How hard is it to replace?

To add to the ordeal, one of the screws (3mm I think) by the brake servo post above gear C got stripped. I will need a good source of real screws too please.

I will try to tackle that screw tomorrow morning...

So far, I am happy with the truck but I am sort of pissed because it could have been worse and more expensive.

Enjoy the pics

I've never had a problem with the stock bearings. The clutch may have overheated and killed the bearing. Low speed driving can cause that.
+1 I have never had any problem with the bearings at all.

Probably just got a bad one from the factory. And I've got about six tanks through mine all hard core bashing and no problem with bearings.

+1.....I have a few gallons on the stock Gear plate bearings and never had an issue...prolly a fluke blowout...

I replaced all of my bearings through intire truck will rubber sealed bearing just so I felt better knowning they're good for $50. Well worth it! It was a pro spec kit I think one of the great vendors on this site sell them.

I too have never had issues with the gears, gear plate- But my time is a comeing i suppose. Try this fellow r-c ers- when you tighten the aircraft nuts on the gears, just lightly seat the nuts, then loosen the nuts about 1 second on the hand of a clock. just enough so the gears donot have any play. I set my nuts so i can almost -almost, turn the flat washers behind the nuts. --- I nearly pulled a nut one time- but thats a story for for the basement! lol.

no problems here either on my mt ,check to make sure when you install the new bearings that the gear is not tightening up against the bearing ,you don't want any side force on the bearings this will cause them to over heat .I find the setscrews ok but you must heat them to soften the loctite before removing or you will strip the hex .a good set of hex drivers is also a must to preserve the setscrews.
