Quite a few people have been asking how to install a Hitec 5745/5755 steering servo on an MT/TT. So I decided to do a small write up.

The 5745 and 5755 are great steering servos. The only problem is that the mounting holes on the servo case do not line up with the mounting holes on the MT/TT mounts. This is an easy fix.

1. Take the mounts off of the MT/TT and remove the stock servo. Removing the mount makes the process a lot easier.

2. With the servo off, you'll see four nubs on the mount. You want to Dremel off the two top mounts. As shown below with the red circles. Leave the two bottom nubs intact, you'll use them to mount the new servo.

3. Now mount the new servo using the lower nubs. With the servo mounted, drill two new holes using the servo case mounts as a guide. As shown below with the red circles.

4. With the new holes drilled, finish mounting the servo. I used the stock screws.

5. Repeat the process for the other servo mount. The holes at the very top are the old mounting holes. Marked with the red circles.

I hope this was easy to follow. I really don't know how I could simplify the presentation. Anyway, hopefully this is useful to someone.

why not just dremel both top and bottom nubs? i might not be seeing things right but wouldnt the bottom stick out more and be uneven if you mount on the nubs and the top flatened section?

exelent guide! good work :) should be a sticky

more stuff like this xD

you want the bottom nubs as it holds the servos nicly inplace, no need to take them off.

the servo slots over the nubs so its flush on the mount, it dosnt sit ontop of the nubs if thats what you mean? (nubs are only really guides, not mounts)

Did you use the alloy horn that came with the servo? as the stock servo horn doesn't fit the hitec does it?

The stock horn won't fit, and I didn't use the metal horn. I used the HD plastic horns that came with the 5755's. Because if it came down to it, I'd rather snap a horn than blow a servo.

Cool have just drilled mine out to take the ball end.

All went well now just need to tweak the rods to stop the servos moaning..!

Thanks for the write up;)

my stock servos would make weird sounds when i simply turned on the receiver on the car, like they were fighting each other. now with one 5755 its doesn't make any loud grinding noises. i can hear like a little computer noise now. if redcat had them perfectly balanced from factory they wouldnt be sending me extra stock replacements just in case my new 5755 goes out. just saying

Yeah. Dual servo setups are iffy. The linkages have to be set just right in order to get the servos to stop fighting each other, and even then they'll still get a little chirpy.
