Installing a piston ring

Which way round should the piston ring be installed as my original one was in centre of exhaust port, but have seen guides and photo's showing in centre of inlet port??

Engine was a 26cc CY now going for the 29cc with stroker if this makes any difference??

as far as i know there should be a small pin in the grove where the ring sits
you need the split in the ring to line up with the pin
an the arrow on the piston top to point to the exhurst port

Cheers bud, i knew the ring had to sit around the pin but wasn't sure which port it faced as there seems to be both on different engines

Just got to find a cheap top end now........

why not go for a new whole top end kit

it says for baja engines but they are all the same engines really,,,,,,,CY,ZENOAH,FUELI,may be a better option
