Guys,

I am looking into putting some front brakes on my Baja 5T and was wondering if the Integy Front Brakes are any good? Thanks.

Richard

I've not heard anything good about them (I am NOT an Integy fan). They also supposedly do not include instructions. But for 80 bucks, it's probably worth a shot.

There are also some aftermarket cables that Pythonmotorsports sells for 20 bucks that's supposed to really help. Scroll down the page, you'll see them.

I will also strongly caution you to NOT ask this question on HBF. You'll cause a lot of grown men to lose their freaking minds and tell you how stupid you are for even considering Integy brakes. They'll kindly point you to some 250-300 dollar brakes instead. As much as I like my Baja, 300 dollar brakes are insane.

Post this question over there if you enjoy a good dressing down and a good laugh when grown men get their panties in a wad. :clown:

+1 on the Skunkworks brakes. I had one of his original sets years ago with the Carbon Fiber disc and that car stopped on a dime.

i heard they were EXCELLENT.

that is aslong as your baja doesn't EVER come off the Shelf.

save your money and get the RAMTech kit, or the BSW kit.

Hey Guys,

I ended up buying a set of Integy front disc brakes with the Python R/C brake cable upgrade and they really work good! These were the new version with the Python cables, which I was told really makes a difference, and they do! I would not be affraid to put them on your HPI Baja B or T! The price was right also! I have them on an E-converted Baja truck, which goes about 70 MPH and it stops on a dime!

I bought them before finding out about integys' reputation and over time made a series of improvements to them that resulted in a great pair of brakes. i can now lock the fronts up on pavement with Tarmacs on.

The breakdown is that i made new cables frm a universal 10 speed cable kit from wal-mart (used the brake outter sheaths becasue they are akrger diameter in and out) then used the shifter system inner cables and some silver solder to hold the brake puller things on and keep the loose ends from freying.

At the same time i took a bit of nylon tubing and cut it to make little spacers to move the calipers out to the edge of the rotors for more leverage over the wheel.

The latest and best thing i've done is to go back to one servo but a really good one. I ended up finding the hitec 7955 servo rebadged for hobbico as the cs-170 for 30 some dollars cheaper it's rated at 330oz/in torque @ 6v and .15s @ 60*.

Here's links to two posts on the baja forum that made the biggest improvements. Although i tried about 7 or 8 different configurations including a seperate servo on the third channel for the fronts (using the mixing on my 3PM-X) I've made brakets made exactly like the B&T and ramtech ( i have a metal fab shop with samller mill and lathe) and through all of those changes, these 3 were the real tricks to making them work as they should... I had to turn the brake EPA down today because they were locking up so fast i couldn't steer under braking

Here's the links to those to mod threads..there are others but i'm back to basics with the cable and caliper placement + badass servo

here's the cable/caliper mods

here's the new servo addition, this was today and i'm so stoked to have the integy's now that i don't even think twice about having bought anything "better"

Turboglenn,

Nice job! I am also using the Hi-Tech 7955 servo and the Python Racing brake cable upgrade is basically just what you did, except I was able to buy them already made up for $20.00! The only thing that I have not tried yet is your nylon spacers, which actually makes sense to me! How long are those spacers? They look to be about 1/4"! My Integy brakes already work great and stop my Baja 5T on a dime! Thanks.

THanks, you'll find that the spacers help a great deal as well.. The length is 5mm or just under 1/4 inch.

A couple other things that helped were to clean the brake pads off with some rubbing alcohol, and then scuff up the rotors with 120 grit sand paper to knock the shine of of them

I bought a set way back when, I had to do a lot of "out of the package" mods to get them to work! I sold them a short time later. Now running Ramtech Brake's on both my 5T and 5B.. Cant complain :cool2:

Funny how people slam products they have never tried buy a set of V3 integy brakes for 90 bucks and see for yourself ,itwill be the best 90 you ever spent on your ride! if you cant figure out how to install them then you shouldnt own a baja. my 5 yr old figured it out while i was getting another beer from the fridge with no help at all !!! think about it who reads instructions unless u really don't know whats going on or you already screwed it up thinking you knew what you were doing. ;)

Baja Skunkworks (B&T) Super Deluxe Rear Brake Kit, also a very good bit of kit!

You can get them in the front also and for the full kit front and back will set you back.....

£500!! thats nice and cheap
