Im thinking ov getting an MCD but not for racing, for bashing, i got a baja and its almost indistructable we go on the dunes and on gras knolls jumping we have some bad tumbles admitidly and like to jump high, will an MCD take this punishment, im looking more at the EVO 3 baja1000. but the question is, another baja or an MCD?

I have a Baja 1000 EVO III coming, I think it was a good investment, wife doesn't though. and she realy doesn't know what its worth LOL.

I have a FG I bought instead of a baja 5b I would say go for it.
 
If jumps are your thing then stick with the 5b. The 4WD MCD gains its advantage being on the ground with its awesome acceleration, braking and handling but the additional weight of the 4WD system is detrimental to its jumping abilities. Sure they will jump but just not the same as a 5b.

I say keep your 5b for big air and get a MCD for racing your mates.

Another often overlooked fact of MCD's is not only are they super durable, they are also so easy to work on (especially out in the field) It takes me less than 5 mins to swap out either the front or rear diff and a bit less to completely remove the engine. The entire radio tray also comes out by undoing a half dozen screws. As a bonus MCD also provides a bag of common spare parts to get you back up and running if you screw it up during your first runs.
 
Thanks for the replys. i don't really race my mates much round a feild, we more jjust bashers im not the racer type person tried it just wasnt for me. i can see where you comming from about the MCD being heavy with its 4wd systm, but the Baja weihs almost 12kg and the mcd is 11.5kg :) the misus is having my baja 5b as i sold her last one without her knowing lol (oh dear) so should i getmyself an MCD or another baja (proberbly an SS)

Go the MCD, why have 2 of the same? The EVO3 is a giant leap foward in durability for the MCD's. I reckon an MCD will easily handle anything a HPI will and if you do damage something it will generally be an easier fix on the MCD. I have an original (pre EVO) Monster Truck and I've never broken anything except rear body mounts (not really broken they just screw back on) and I don't treat it like a baby.

i just got mine..baja1000 evo III from steve..(he ported the engine too, which was nice!)...makes my old fg look like a toy! it's HUGE!!
i haven't run it yet, but it seems sturdy as a tank!

i'll let you know how it goes once ive run it in.., but inital immpressions tell me you should have one..

go for a baja1000!
 
just got a mcd evo 3 race runner and from what i can see its built like a tank but like what was said not the car for big jumps i don't think its to heavy but it will out perform any 2wd on a race track the grip and handling is amazing ,i did break a rose joint on the first run though still better than the whole arm
 
hi, ive just takin my evo 3 for first propa run. i previously ran a fg. the 4wd system is amazing, really throw it into corners, nail it and it pulls like a steam train coming out, no fuss, just grip, only limit i think is the tyres. jumping, well, as long as you attack and are committed, yes you can jump on them, but i think the baja with longa travel is probably a better jumper, but its harder to get speed up to jump as its 2wd. swings and roundabouts i suppose. iin my opinion go for it, you will love it no matter how u drive it. i did fluff a jump and landed hard on one front corner. sounded painful. broke the upper link steal rod and bent drive shaft. hammered drive shaft back, and just order replacement link for 8 quid. so are they hard? is joe callzaghe a warrior?
