To make a long story short I encountered a lot of misinformation and down right nones sense when first building my xbe. I passed my electronics class in college so what people on these rc forums in general said just did not make much sense. I just want every one looking into 1/5th scale electrics to just check out ohms law. It's a very simple law, perhaps so simple it's over looked by most people. With knowing any of two of the three you can find the last variable

resistance / voltage / amperage .

Check out the links in 5 minutes you will know more than 90% of these forum gurus. Also every 5000mah in batters it's is about 8 minutes run time in a 1/5 in general, the motor , gearing will help a little but not a whole lot.You are discharging batts, just the same as lights would, the total draw will be heavy on the batteries no matter the voltage you are just draining them at a higher voltage with low Kv motors... Sending massive voltage threw the capacitors is not a great thing to do either. Any way read / watch the links and then you won't be at the mercy of the forums / Facebook.

Hours charging for minutes running

Give me gas or nitro anytime
Thousand times this.

I had Tamiya Super Sabre back in the 90s. Hated it. 8 hours charge for 10 mins of exponential decrease in power.

Back then Lipo wasnt even available

I would like to add, if you want to get serious about run times forget about adding voltage,,,,, Adding voltage is like adding more HP, Those high voltage motor are made to run in machines with power supplies, not batteries. A lot of people thought high voltage and a losi 5ive T would be ideal. Well its not, the losi 5ive is just too heavy for ep. Running 14 hp makes the rig fly but good luck on run times on 12s.... IF you want a good set up for a long running ep you should go 6s2p or 8s2p, a redcat on 8s2p will run a LONG TIME! 8s batteries are just a little bigger than 6s. You can run on 6s2p for a long time as well. The temps on the 6s set up will be around 180-200 degrees on the motor after you are done but THAT IS FINE, as long as your batts and esc are not too hot your system will last a long time.

Here are some general rules of thumb I have observed.

Every Voltage rating in batteries you go up(6s to8s) drops the amperage about 30 AMPs at full discharge, not as much as you would think and hardly enough to give you more run time as the lower kv motor takes more voltage to spin any way..... Temps on the battery and esc side don't see much change..

If you can add mechanical breaks you will see a longer run time

Gearing affects temps BIG TIME.

You don't need a bec,,, you can run a receiver battery and be better off since the servos will have their own power source and you will have less drain on the main batts. Most big rc air plane guys do this,,,,, since you wont be running a crappy servo any way......

If you can find LIFE batts big and bad enough for 1/5th scale they would be worth a shot, They are far more stable,, that means discharging them like crazy, like we do with 1/5th scale damages them far less than lipos.

Maxxamps is not that bad, just ignore the "haters" they have a warranty, No one else will give you a new lipo if you blow yours, Its is worth the cost not to be puffing 100$ Chinese batts every month, and be left with expensive time bombs that cant not be repaired very easy. Thunder power is nice but they go bad just as often as other lipos and you don't get any help from them when they do, I have been told, I never bothered to try with them,,,,,,,,,,,,

7075rc has everything you need to mount a big brushless motor, no need for clutches or belts or more things to fail under instant 7 lbs of torq. You need to adjust for that on the esc, that's what they are made for, so you can tone down the punch to a workable level...

With good 6s batts with no center diff the redcat rampage is really hard to control on dry dirt.

Losi 5iveT conversions are expensive,, very very very expensive and are a challenge to get to run long. voltage does not equal more run time no matter what any one selling something tells ya.
