Hey guys I have a km baja with a 2 speed. its not shifting in to second. Since theres no directions on how to adjust does anyone no how to? I know theres 2 screws on the outer part of the spur gears. They came completely tightned. Shouldnt they be turned out so many turns? Thanks for the help

I have the same two speed, Mine as well would not shift out of the box, screws completely tightened. To be honost with you, I have no idea how many turns out it took to get it right..

Just loosen both the same amount of turns, try it, loosen some more, try it. ect.. Untill its shifting right where you want it. If its too late, loosen them, if its too soon, tighten them... Just remember to keep them equal.

You arent going to hurt it messing around with the adjustments, so don't be afraid to just play untill its where you like it.

What ever the amount of turns it takes for you to get it too. After ward post up the number when you find out!;)
Sounds like a common issue.

one screw should be to hold the 2 speed to the shaft, the other to adjust the shift point. at least all 2 speeds I have ever played with are like that. the one going staright in locks it to the shaft and the one on an angle is the spring pressure.

easiest to adjust if you put the rc on say a milk crate so you can rev and listen then adjust without chasing it down

This one is not designed that way.

There is two screws only, one for each half of the secondary clutch. adjust them equally and your set.

The second gear set itself is held onto the shaft by flat spots on the shaft, and a bolt on the outside.

I went and counted mine in. I am at about 3 3/4 turns out on both (from a snug-tight in), and it doesn't shift untill it really winds out, which is right where i want it.

The rest is all personal preference.

Hey guys, I was able to get out and adjust my 2 speed. The set point for this particular km is 1 turn on both screws. I like it to shift at high rpm. Works great.

Thanks for the good advice.

I like mine at one complete turn on both screws. Keeps a good low end and starts to shift just at the correct time for me. I can keep up with all the rest... I love this buggy... Plus it was cheaper than the other guy's.. LOL

had to adjust mine after the upgrades i installed, i turned mine till snug, then backed out 1 turn still was shifting a lill too soon, so turned back in 1/4 turn, haven't tried it yet, but should be where i want mine to kick up at.

Sounds like you have the wrong spur or something. my king motors has a real tight gear mesh and there is no adjustment. Do yourself a favor and get a hpi manual especially if your new

You do want the gear mesh to be a lil loose because if its tight it will destroy the 1 way bearing quickly you can adjust the mesh if you remove the gears and adjust with a lil play.

Try losening the engine mount bolts, run a few sheets of paper through the gears, leaving the paper in between them. Then tighten the bolts back up, that will give you a decent mesh.
