Tune sounds fine just take it easy on her for the first couple of tanks make sure everything is tight. check rear beadlock screws on KM's and keep a clean and oiled air filter. Most of all have fun:)

Thanks for all the help guys. Everyone's gotta start somewhere and this is mine. Really glad how helpful you guys are over here :)

Anyways, I've ran about 2 1/2 tanks through her so far, does that seem good for a break in or should I break her in some more? I'm running Lucas 2 stroke semi synthetic oil with it and I've read that when people run synthetic during the break in, the whole process takes a bit longer. Or should I be done with the break in and let her rip?

I've read a lot of information about these already it's just that I want to make sure :) Thanks.

Got a bit more pics for you guys!

OH! and another question...after the run I noticed some black residue from the tail pipe?

And some oil residue from where the pipe connects to the motor:

Is that normal? I showed some guy at the track who used to run 1/5th and he said that residue from the pipe is from the 25:1 ratio...
but what about the residue from the linkage between the pipe and motor? Is that normal or the screws just came loose a bit?

Also, after the second tank, my KM's engine died when I left it in idle for about 2 minutes and when it was flipped on its side for a couple seconds...I thought it was from running her with the LSN a bit on the rich side..not too sure though.

Anyways, I would love your guys' feedback and I'm really loving this forum and this scale!! :D:D

oil residue from pipe is the oil, and the oil on the head pipe connect is a slight leak check the screws tighten if needed,
as for dieing out you did have fuel correct? also is that the stock spark plug? if it is chuck it and get a ngk plug, gap it and start over

Thanks guys :)

planning to keep this one as stock for now and replace what I break pretty much!

Speaking of "breaks" I jumped it today off of a hill in a soccer field about 4 feet high and landed on the tail....bent the rear aluminum bumper and made some dents on the pipe and also misaligned it (centered when it was stock)

Is this bad? Not like the engine died or anything, although when it landed it sounded like it revv'ed up a bit for about 2 seconds and went back to normal.

Shut off the engine to check and fired her back on and it seemed normal. Just want to make sure I did'nt damage anything other than the bumper.
Bumper's no bigdeal though, I was planning to put the stock genuine plastic 5sc bumpers on her as I figured aluminum wouldn't last very long on these 5th scales...

I Would go with the rpm bumper mounts and bumpers. Also whatch your plug wire. The spring terminal on them is kind of crappy. If you ever roll it good and it dies and will not start its very likely it's the wire. There is a group of 12 people local to me that has had it happen to as well as a few here on the fourm. You can buy any 7mm wire. Copper or carbon core is fine. Copper gives a little more spark but with more emi/rfi. Carbon/graphite gives a little less spark but alot lower emi/rfi. So keep that in mind.

I also have the T1000GT. I love mine as well. Dan at KM is the best I've ever dealt with. My KM does everything my HPI Baja 5bss will do17d87a8fd438ad131d17c073a8869652.webp

Im picking one of the t1000s up this weekend second handed, anything i should look for? i have owned the HPI 5b, didnt know if these had any problematic things i should check for before trading.

If you had a Baja before, you know what to keep an eye on, they are basically the same, different wheels/body. As far as problems, it seems like a crap shoot, sometimes you get a lemon, sometimes you get a cherry. It really seems to depend on what kind of day the assemblers in Hong Kong are having.

Check all screws, clutch and housing. Make sure good mesh and all bearings are in good shape. Have the guy start it up to ensure she runs good.

Congrats on the new truck. You might as well go to DDM and start you a wish list. Like OuttaLuck said prepare to spend a lot on upgrades. These things are addictive.
