I love building kits and my Tekno's were/are simply the best in every category IMO. From the packing to the instructions to the fit and finish. If Tekno made a 1/5 scale i would by 3. I accept and understand why some companies don't offer kits. Kits are usually reserved for a Race rig and 9 out of 10 Fifth scales are not "racers" but RTR or BND.

I've had quite a few short course trucks in every scale. All i repeat All and i men ALL suck donkey nuts out of the box. From Pure IFS/IRS and IFS-Solid axle they just suck and have the famous short course roll. With some suspension tuning, making the track a smidge wider and learning to drive a SC / Trophy Truck the way it needs to be driven were honestly some of the most fun ground RC's i have controlled. When a SC / Trophy Truck is setup correctly it is magical to watch.

It is one of the reasons i bought my first 1/5 scale TT and Gas RC in the Kraken. I haven't controlled an RC since 2016 and the first two turns i rolled the sh*t out of my TT. I knew i would need to do some suspension tuning a learn to drive SCT again. For me that is the part of the fun and while i am not expert in suspension i will have a lot of frustration AND fun making my TT the best handling TT i can make it.

I was dead set on getting the tt, but after talking with quite a few guys, including the boys at ddm, the vekta was just the better option. I have a tt body sitting at home to stick in it, just haven't gotten around to it yet.
Agreed. If i could only have one it would for sure be the Vekta.

They're both poop, don't kid yourselves! lol I bought a TT kit with Kraken's latest batch. Everything I had read warning about quality and handling were correct. The 5T or MCD or pretty much any other 5th scale on the market handles better and is built better.

Ask me about a section of the truck, and I'll tell you how it was poorly designed. There's an issue with almost every corner of the thing, and to make it even halfway decent you need to spend thousands on billet upgrade parts to take out the slop and weakness in Kraken plastics, but also the design is just poor. It's basically a high-speed off-road drag racing machine that looks cool. Don't get me wrong, they look great and unique ... that's unfortunately the entire selling point. They're heavy as balls, handle like poop (yes even the Vekta ... the way wider stance just makes up for the absolutely crap handling characteristics by making it slightly less likely to roll over on its side), and break parts. The brakes suck - 1 brake pad for a 60lbs machine? Ouch! Even their new carbon fiber disc brakes are garbage, they made them too thin and are prone to getting stuck in the groove for the o-ring on the outdrive. Ask me how I know ...

Basically, buy the Vekta if you want a show queen that drives in a straight line ... you'll have to drop money on a bigger engine just to get the heavy brick to move. Something like the Losi or Traxxas trophy trucks are much better handling and performing, and you can load those up with aluminum goodies. Not gas, which I prefer, but anyhow ... I bought one. And that's my honest review. It's a beautiful looking shelf queen or straight-line dragster; or in a more optimistic view a "fun challenge" to drive on the edge without flipping and busting it. Kraken states it's "scale" ... no, not even close. Even the chassis doesn't sit level to the ground and on the trophy truck, you can never get full compression or extension properly. In the front as well, on full compression the tires rub the underside of the body.

I could go on ... the body is the least of the concerns though.

Yeah, I hear that. Dumped piles of money into mine when building the kit. Can't say I've had issues breaking it too much. Something definatly changed with kraken quality at some point. Such a shame. Won't deny I run my 5ive t a lot more then the vekta, and that's when and if I have the time. I just grab the 5ive and go have some fun, put it away and drag it out. It just works.
