I want to get a 1/5 scale off-road R/C. Looking at the DBXL-E and Kraken Vekta kit. Open to electric and gas but I lean towards gas. Not looking to race just a bash machine is what I'm looking for. Like the Losi 5ive-T, DBXL-E, HPI gassers. Thanks!

All good choices. All have great part support. If your leaning toward gas and on a budget I would get a DBXL non-electric version which I’m sure you could pick up for a steal used. Or a Vekta if your wallet allows and never look back. Just my opinion. Currently waiting on some trepidor (spelling) shoes and an engine for mine as I have the kit version. Oh and paint and exhaust. Lol

DBXL-E and Five-T

These plus the Vekta are good recommendations, I agree. The Perform Great and can take much Beating. Works nice all stock and maybe upgrade Servo, TX/RX, for Reliable and Precision ControlE. For EP Stock Motor and ESC ok. Spend money on batteries then Enjoy.

I'm looking at a use Vekta with with some good upgrades for $1300. Only thing I would need is a RX/TX. I'm also looking for a used Five-T or DBXL-E. Would rather buy used but if I can't find anything soon I might just go with the Vekta.5 LSE Pro with a G320RC and Booster Pipe.

Got the 5ive-T for $700. Converting to EP so I sold the "like new" engine and all GP parts for $100. Maybe I do a Vektra EP Project early 2018. Reviews says new Vektra performs quite nice, as well. Cheers!

With electric I can run this anywhere. Only thing I don't like is the run times of electric and I know most places have a noise ordinance

Found a Losi 5ive-T ATR with a after market pipe for 1300. Really torn what to go with...5ive-T or Vekta?

Maybe a good deal, and a test drive can BEST evaluate. I would pick the more popular in my area, and gain opportunities to give and receive help, as well.
 
Well the local Losi 5ive sold yesterday. So now I need to decide to get the used Vekta.5 with the 34cc motor, pipe, clutch upgrade, kill switch and a few other upgrades. I would still need to get a new controller and was going to get a DX5. Second option is to get a new Losi 5ive and after market pipe. Between the 5ive and Vekta which truck seems to be more durable? Thanks!
 
If buying new is an option, don't miss out ongoing Black Friday Sale. Get a NEW RTR if all you want is to Bash. Or buy separately a Kit, then Engine, Muffler. Then Radio and Servo if you got the interest, time, and patience.
