Has anyone run into this issue before? I installed a reed case engine on my XR5 and because the intake is extended, the stock throttle linkage does not reach. Is there a workaround or do I need to custom make a linkage? Thanks in advance.

just move the collar at the servo horn end out a bit fella,
that should give you enough length to reach the carb throttle plate
,
then notch the carbon if it rubs etc,
edit, and/or a shorter piece of fuel tube at the collar as well

it looks like there should be enough to make it work in the pics,
plus you can just add any extra bends if needed,
if all else fails old bicycle spokes are ideal for making up custom linkages
