Milo’s Badger Build

I’m naming this the Badger because it’s going to be black & white, built in Britain and be hard as fcuk. Plus the name fits if you get what I mean.

I’ll be using brand new parts some of them rare and all plastic will be original HPI. It took me an age and cost fortune to acquire all the bits I wanted.

Any how this is the first piece.


Trust me this will be an interesting build.

I’ve started building the engine. It’s a Scott Finlay RC40. I’ve put an ALX 70mm clutch with a 2 speed bell. I bought it 2 days before BlackBone released some new 54mm ones, lucky me.

I‘m happy though because now I’ve got the best. It wouldn’t be a proper build without mods and I had to mod the housing. I used a half round file and made a good job if don’t say so myself.

Clutch tightened down to 20Nm of torque.

Small update. I got a bit of time today and I’ve vinyl wrapped the IRC chassis and strengthening plate and cut out all the reliefs and screw holes.

Thanks mate, It’s only cheap vinyl, if anything it will protect the chassis from surface scratches. Replaceable for £5 and a few hours work.

So it’s been a while since I made some progress with this. Luckily im a bit of a parts hoarder so I dug all my last original HPI stuff out for this build.



Got the battery box together with a high end Futaba aero servo for throttle and brake, it super stron, quick and hopefully reliable because it designed for expensive aircraft..I used a Hilantronics for the steering, might a bit overkill but I need a super strong one because this rig is going to be on the heavier side and I‘m using a very short servo arm for the steering because I’m doing my equal steering throw mod.

Front end together now, this thing is heavy weight.









I’m not going to run front brakes on this straight away I think. I would need to swap my front hubs over to HPI or GH alloy ones, but for now I’ll try the full Red Arrow set up. I’m building many things at once now……..watch this space!
