Amsoil is not readily available in my area. I can order online, but I have to wait. I can get Mobil 1 synthetic 2 stroke racing all day long. What do you guys think about the Mobil 1 for my sons new Rampage XT?

Thanks in advance.

I know a couple guys that use it and say it's good stuff. I had to borrow some gas from one of my buds and I can say that's the smell will stick to ya if you sit around it too long. Here's a thread I bookmarked a while back from a dirt bike forum where a rider rated the oils he tried:

http://www.thumpertalk.com/forum/archive/index.php/t-537841.html

Now I'm not totally sure about how valid the report is for our engines. I say that because of the review on the BelRay HR1 which is what I use. I've run Amsoil, which is the highest rated oil, and prolly 6 other oils. I've found BelRay HR1 to run the cleanest in these small engines. It might not be as wear resistant as Amsoil but it sure does run clean. Klotz would deposit HEAVY amounts of carbon on my piston and exhaust port. If you ask a bike guy about carbon deposits with Klotz the results would be different. My conclusion is we see such a performance difference because the manufacturers have engineered the oils to perform for the RPM range of larger 2 strokes.

I just broke down and ordered a gallon of Amsoil. Why chance it? It'll be here on Wednesday.

Thanks for all the assistance.

Have to agree here, I switched over to Bel-Ray H1R from Klotz ST and every time I open the engine there is absolutely zero carbon build up and lots of lube in the cylinder. Do you find that your rings wear prematurely with the Bel-Ray oil or the cylinder itself?

I run synthetic oil made for my shifter kart engine..its still just 2 stroke oil but the kart engines rev higher than the dirtbikes after they modify the engines for kart racing..What makes this oil different is the lower viscosity of it, its not as thick as conventional race oil which is supposed to help with the high rpms of the kart motors and also has a much higher burning point.. I haven't ripped apart my R/C engine yet, but my karts mill is always well lubed and no carbon. If anyone wants to check it out i know it is put out by Swedtech Racing in Italy.
