My 5iveT v1.5 basher build thread

Today was my first day off work in the past 3 weeks. I got up at 530am so I had a few hours all to my self before the family woke up......

Here’s what I’ve found bad so far.

They installed a custom exhaust but didn’t put the gasket between engine and exhaust plus it was loose so it was spitting exhaust residue every where. They also had the wrong screws holding the exhaust in place.

All 4 shocks were loose and low on oil

I’m really concern about the gasoline they ran in it. I feel the little bit of gas in the fuel tank right now has no oil mix in it. I’m hoping I’m wrong about this.
Before I bought it, I ran it for about 1’min. I was able to crank it up on the 4th pull, but the TUNE was so bad I shut it off.


Something is also wrong with the front diff, I’ll need to take it apart to inspect. But its not rolling smooth right now.
I can push it forward and it rolls sorta smooth, but rolling it backwards it feels rough and front tires lock up almost immediately.


Currently the only thing stopping me from cranking it on is the fact I don’t have a gasket for the exhaust. All the local small engine shops around me are closed today, I might do a HomeDepot and Lowe’s run to see if they have anything that might work in the mean time.

Holy crap, yeah that engine is probably junk if they didn't run oil in it. But have a go, it could be fine! Still not a horrible deal for 360. The rest of the truck Seams good except for the engine and diff.

What would be the best way to extract this screw? The head was snapped off really clean, no idea how.

Imo get the rest out and give it a good yank to pull it up through the chassis.. ?....whats it attached to i should of asked first ?

It’s the screw that holds the steering towers

Is there a video or tutorial online showing how to disassemble the front of the 5iveT so I can take out the differential ????
I need to rebuild it

Took out 1 of the 5iveT’s today, here’s a few pics of today.

I clipped a tree basically at WOT which ended my run....

But man every time I run the 5iveT it puts a smile on my face

from the looks of the pics, it looks like you only trashed the front a-arm and that mud guard..as long as nothing else is bent (shocks...etc...), that shouldn't be to bad to fix...not that expensive either....could have been way worse.

You need one in your collection. I have 5t 2.0 wanted 5t for a long time when new version was coming out .I preordered it I glad I did.
