Well finally had the chance to go down the workshop for a while and started the strip down ready for the brushless build.

let the brushless comments and jokes commence ???⚡⚡️???

I haven’t used the 5b since the summer so things need to change. Seeing as I use my electric rc’s more than I have the Losi I think it’s time to try a 5th scale brushless build and see how we go.

in time it may end up being 12s but for now we will see how we go on 8s

so this is what we are starting with

This is my method of heating up thread locked bots ?? I couldn’t find a lighter ?

engine, pipe, battery tray and petrol tank removed and stored away just in case?

now bought up into the house so I can do more bits in the evenings.

No gasser deserves the E- word treatment, least of all the 5B, what I would consider the pinnacle of 1/5 scale gassers. I don't know why exactly, but it pains me when people defile such fabulous RC's that way. It would be like someone taking a Corvette, and tossing Prius guts in it. Its just wrong. I think you will see the light and switch it back.

I don’t know. I get it. I’m feeling it also. I have several 1/5 gas’rs that are fast and Loud and sometimes I find the noise a bit of a issue as I’m sure the neighbors don’t want to hear me zipping up and down the street, so the electric option seems like a viable option. I say do what you wanna do it’s your money

I get it, but take a corvette and put Tesla running gear in it would be more of a comparison than “Prius guts”?

as for switching back, it’s an option. So no harm in having a go.

got a few more bits done to nite. So here are some pics of the progress.

first up was the steering servo and receiver tray

Then it was onto the lipo trays. these were a tat tedious as each strap was held in by 2 screws each

then to end things off with the motor install. Sorry I forgot to take a pic at the table lol

all in all the tlr conversion kit has been very good quality But the instructions do miss out a few steps that you have to figure out yourself such as if you want to run mechanical brakes or not so there is alternative hardware for either option.
I went without the mechanical brakes for now just to simplify things down to a minimum.

if anyone has any questions just Ask
?

That’s looking so good!! Haters gonna hate. Truth is they are jealous. It will be kick a$$ when it’s done!!
keep the pix coming.
Idk about that mate, I have a few e machines myself, but given the chance to convert one (again) I would give it a pass. Deffinatly not jealous lol. But given hes been talking about this so long,(and has been neglecting the 5ive b) im all for it. At least the ole girl will be used more often ?
