Hello there Guys. I currently have two Redcat 5th scales. The Rampage MT and the Dunerunner. So I have 5th experience, just wanted some opinions on the Losi MTXL. I have been for a year or so kicking around the idea of purchasing one. I now have My mind made up to go ahead and get it. A few questions I have. What is the truck like out of the box? I'd imagine the steering servo is probably a weak point stock like most rc's are. Is there anything else needed to upgrade right away? Any input would be appreciated! Thanks Guys

I just picked one up as well. From my consensus, the steering servos are a bit weak. Also some have stated a better rx/tx helps the turning radius. For performance it seems they are under powered but I have yet to try mine so I am not sure there. I am adding a 3 stage filter to help filtering and get a little more air. Likely just get a new engine if it proves to be weak

Nice. I saw one in person at the LHS last weekend and I was in love. The size of it is amazing! I didn't have My Rampage MT with Me at the time, but it looks to tower over it. I have seen a few videos and the MTXL looks pretty rugged. Thanks For The Input Sir!!!

I love mine, but burn the rx/tx that comes with it. Its totaly poop and makes the truck turn like a supertanker. Understeer to one side and oversteer to the other and all other sorts of crap. The double steering servos have 30kg pull [email protected] volt but they don't feel it. Its one of the things I plan to upgrade. They however do have enough power to tear the steering link between the servo horn and the steering apart. Get one made from metal, its not expensive and will save you frustration. Losi cut some odd corners but its still a great truck if you are into trucks. If you are looking for speed, its the wrong truck. It goes around 50km/h out the box and you can add 10-15 to that with a good pipe. But it has a lot of low end grunt which will reveal itself in rugged terrain.

Awesome input there Man!! I'm not looking for speed from it as it is a Monster Truck after all. I realize this since I already have a Rampage MT. That truck is surprisingly fast with the upgrades I've done to it. Anyways, after reading all the input I have gained I am going to go for the MTXL. I have a feeling I will be parting ways with My Rampage after purchase. Thanks again guys!! I really appreciate it!!÷!

I got mine In the mail yesterday and already broke it in. Before I even drove it I swapped in my rx/tx which is a dx5r/sr6000. It does decent for turning I think but I never did run the factory rx/tx.

So far driving it, it definitely needs thicker shock oil from factory. I dropped it 3 feet high and it smacked the chassis off the ground lol. So I will be doing 7000cst in rear and 5000cst in front. Going to find some heavier springs as well to help it out more.

Also skid plates are a must, if you look at the spur gear it sits about .010 passed the skid plate. Only thing saving it is the screws that sit farther out.

So far I have ordered hitec d845wp servos, outerwear for air filter and clutch cover as well as crankcase all are a must from reading and speaking to ddm. Also ordered the aluminum steering bellcrank upgrade, the top gusset plate, turtle racing aluminum clutch carrier, and I think a couple things I'm forgetting. Basically all the weak point I have read about or that could be problem areas.

Oh, an most important! Blue loctite every bolt that threads into metal, already lost one from the servos because I forgot. People weren't kidding when they said it vibrates them out very quick

I am going to the LHS to get the MTXL next weekend. I have two Hitec D845 servos for steering, Futaba rx and a 2s lipo. Hot racing servo saver assy. Which throttle servo do you guys use? Thanks

I still have my factory one, I don't see a need really to upgrade it. It could be a little faster, but id rather put my money towards a pipe. I have the d845 servos and it is a huge step up. You will need a 3mm spacer though as they are a little taller. I just went to my local hardware store and got a 1/4" aluminum spacer. Nice Man. Is there any issues getting the two servos to sync together? I already have my eyeballs on a Bartalone pipe too. Thanks for the input

Zero issues, just have to center them first by turning on your truck before you put the horns on. That's basically it, I was looking at the bartalone as there name is really out there, but after hearing a few jetpro pipes I really like the sound of those better. Just my opinion though.
