DBXL 2.0 New Owner. Questions!

Hi all. I recently took a DBXL e 2.0 on a trade. The last RC car I had was 30 years ago. I’ve been reading about it and have questions on the upgrades mostly. I see the diff issue. I looked on Vitavon’s website but am really not clear which ones to buy. There’s two versions and they look completely different. In your experience:

What are the mandatory upgrades? The “if you don’t do this you’re a dumbass” upgrades.


What are the “hey you should really do this…” upgrades? Ya know, the ones where if you spend any decent time driving the car, you should do.

Finally, what upgrades that don’t fit the above categories do you recommend? Thank you and yes I’m aware I may have traded for a money pit.

Edit: forgot to add: the shocks feel awful. I press down on the car and it barely comes back up. Is that normal?

Thank you for the reply. I’m having the same issue though with your thread. I’m very new to all this and don’t see any part numbers or anything. I will try and build a list. What I really need to know though, is what do you consider to be upgrades that are mandatory, nice to have, etc. If I build a list of upgrades after that, maybe someone on here can help me with what grease and such to buy. In a bit over my head

Other than diffs,front and rear, I've had no issues, besides batteries. Everything else has been more preventing problems. Vitavon parts are expensive but very well made and should last life of buggy. I literally got complete f/r diffs in parts from Vitavon. Spidergears,etc. and built and installed in a weekend. As far as diff housing, v1-v2, the v2 has the "squares " to hold
spider gears . I use a prepaid credit card to buy off internet, Vitavon doesn't accept it, but after emailing Vitavon the said buy them off ebay and that's how I get thier stuff. Takes about 10 days from China. They were quick with emailing me .
