Today started the spring season for me and my family with our 5th scale buggies, I brought my firehammer (which I converted to monster beetle) my brother brought his baja 5 b and his wife brought her fg desert racer, we all started our cars and started driving and my car kept going into failsafe mode and kept stopping, drove me nuts to the point I couldnt run at all (3 min. total, yea) went home and swiched out the radio and failsafe and still wouldnt run right, we think its got to be the plug lead, plug cap or the spark plug, (RF interference). RX battery is full charged and so is TX. If anyone has any info please help!, thanks!:helpsmilie:

That's a shame the problem had to rain on your fun. What kind of radio, receiver and failsafe are you running? With more info I'm sure someone should have some ideas soon enough.

The first radio, stock Duratrax 2 ch FM, secound radio, Futaba magnum 2PL 2ch AM,
First failsafe stock Duratrax, secound failsafe Venom ? but I don't think its a radio problem since both radio sets work fine with engine off but when started the servos twich and the failsafe is activated and brakes lock (failsafe "s" work). The problem must be RF interferance from the ignition system, so I am trying a new spark plug (new for season) and a new ignition lead and plug cap(also not a bad idea for a new season). thanks for your reply and I will let you know how it all works out.

the 2nd one is a no no, AM is VERY prone to glitch on a gasser motor due to the spark plug and coil. AM and gasser is just asking to rebuild befor your time. lol all you need to do to confirm this is listen to an AM Radio during a lightning storm.

i would check the chrystals in the FM. they may of been funky. try a new set of chrystals. you may of been getting interferane from one of the others. its possible one was running on the same channel check to be sure the old batteries didnt corrode the battery contacts in the battery tray in the TX. that may of well caused some issue.

What spark plug are you using? If it is not a resistor one you may experience lots of interference. If none of the above is the issue, perhaps try removing the radio gear from the housing it's in and test it when they are at a larger distance form the vehicle. At the same time check for any loose wires.

The spark plug is a " Torch CMR5H"? I never heard of that company before, will definately change to NGK, do you guys know what number NGK I should get ?
I will definately reinstall the FM radio, but can I use AM crystals, are they the same?

If you're looking for a spark plug, you can see at Daves Motors that there are a few ones that can work. I do believe that yours is already a resistor one though. Try the process of elimination by testing each thing at a time to see if the twitching and failsafe are triggered.

Let us know what pops up.
