Rovan Baja I picked up today. All upper and lower arms front and rear are RPM, RPM steering knuckles, Integy upper shock towers, Turtle Racing clutch housing, 8000 TPM clutch, DDM Racing gas cap and a Kraken X3 Polymer Chassis with the Steel Insert. He put another 30.5 motor on it and even gave me the original motor that still runs good. Sounds damn good.

I hope for the best for you basher. Rovan has never been known to be a rig that will last you for years or need periodic inspection and rebuilds. When it breaks its usually catastrophic

Been doing this for over 40 yrs. Working on these and playing with them is what I do. The ones that break and don't last are the people that don't take care of them.

We can respect that however I remember not even bashing my 5b that hard during break in and the chassis bending before even hitting hard terrain. See there are a few things about Rovan that may SEEM impressive to someone who hasn't owned/used them for very long but after comparing to the real deal it just falls flat on its face.

I know what you will say next, the price the price the price.... Yes its pretty enticing for a cheap RC however you will soon find yourself with more downtime then runtime if you don't upgrade. Then once you upgrade you will find something else wrong then you upgrade again. "Rinse, Wash, Repeat".

Here's my suggestion to you. Besides the required upgrades all Bajas need like chassis brace, killswitch, and other small things I would keep that engine stock if you plan on NOT upgrading because the second you add more power to your RC is the second every single component of it starts breaking and bending under just driving the thing.

There is very little about Rovan I would recommend to someone and as time goes along the list gets shorter and shorter and I should know. I have had a HPI, a Rovan, and KM.

That's a very untrue statement. Use the search function there's a literal plethora of hits for rovan quality. I will say it does seem to get to a point where they can be made mostly reliable. It also seems it's when quite a bit of it has been replaced. Some guys do seem to have better luck then others. I often think it's a Monday vs Friday build, or something like that. We've recently had a member, who's been a stark defender of rovan, realize all the issues he's been having are directly related to the base parts he's been using, all rovan. Unfortunately, it ends like this all too often. I by no means am saying throw it out or upgrade this that or whatever else right now. Go enjoy it and see what and how it breaks. I'm hopeful you have a positive experience with it.

It wasn't a jab at you man, you can be the greatest rc mechanic but rovan just sucks. My statement had no relevance to how long you've been in the hobby (y)

I don't think you read my description. It has a Kraken

I don't think you read my description. It has the Kraken X3 Polymer Chassis. In case you not familiar with it, it has the molded in steel plate at the nose area.

Trust me, I got this under control. I didn't realize in a Hobby that's so hard to get people into that so many people have negative thoughts on what one buy's. I got the $$ to buy the best of the best off the shelf or upgrade the best of the best to the max. That's not what I do. Ill just exit these forums and do like I always do and do my thing.

I think all people are trying to say is Rovan is at the bottom for quality. Yes you’ve bought a well modded rig but the history of Rovan and their quality is well documented. I’m sure everyone is happy that you’re happy with your purchase, but there are a few us at least that think it’s always been POS and always will be until you change every Rovan part, therefore no longer Rovan. Seems like you’re halfway there.

Don‘t take it to heart that most are not blowing smoke up your arse, you made the right choice as far as you are concerned, but this is an open forum and people are entitled to their opinions as long as they are not personally offensive. Why get butt hurt because people don’t like your favourite brand? Get over it have fun, you are free to learn your own lessons and we are free to either watch and laugh or see you prove us wrong. Either way big fcuking deal.
