Hey guys I’m building a Baja 5b and I have 2 engines to choose from. A fresh rovan 36cc and a used obr 30.5cc full mod long rod. I know the obr is a more expensive racing engine compared to the Rovan 36cc but im curious as to which one will be better due to size difference and quality difference . I will be mounting a rcmax side pipe also. Which one do you think would have more power?

That's not an OBR engine. Look at the engraving
Besides the fact that's not how Shaun or Dan engrave, it doesn't have any initials, or a date stamp.
It looks like it's been done by a drunken school kid tbh
It could be an early 30.5. I'd try to agree with the seller to send it to obr at the buyers expense to have them verify its one of theirs. Personally I'd just save a little more and buy their 30.5 Longblock and complete it myself

I was thinking you'd chime in. You've got a 30.5 in your Baja hey

Ive never seen engraving like that. The first OBR i ever bought was in 2017. Small neat engraving, with initials and build date
You can just send them a pic, they'll soon tell you

Used to. 34 Reed now

Mine was with the tr Reed case tho so I don't know weather those are his engravings either. I'd try to get a few pics of the port work on the inside to send to obr and make sure.
Ive just been digging around the interweb. Seems it could be genuine, plus the initials weren't engraved on earlier engines either

I would not buy the Rovan 36cc engine. Been down that path twice, once for being clueless and second because it was the stock engine. It will run but will lack any power or performance one would think a larger displacement would provide.

Obr all the way. I have a couple of obr 30.5 and they both have about 5 years on them and they still kicks ass. I'll never give up my obr's for anything.

So I actually got a hold of the previous owner and he happened to have the original receipt looks like it was purchased in 2012 and it sold for 389 lol that’s crazy aren’t they like 700 now?

it says $469.99 on that receipt dude, so 2012, $469.99 plus tax is probably about right on the price (y)
That’s what I meant 469 my bad
So I’m getting ready to make a parts list and I’m going to go with a new top end kit to be safe and I’d like to put a new carb on it. What would be a good carb to go with? I’m assuming the carb on it has seen a lot of time so I’d like to get a new one
