Petrol mixed shelf life?

Gasoline loses it's volatility after about 2-3 weeks. But with our small engines and the low compression most of them have, you could go about 4-6 weeks before it causes a problem. When in doubt dump it out...

i think fuel lasts a good while. i have left fuel in the lines and tank for a full seaon and it would start fine and run fine. im pretty sure gas has a very long shelf life.

As soon as it is blended with ethanol its shelf life is very low. It starts to smell gross when it is going bad, I think keeping the fuel in a cool dark place extends the life. I have had #1 fuel mixed for months that was perfect yet.

ive had my fuel do fine all winter long. just be sure to mix it up well. only put a bit of gas in the first time (after its been setting) if the gas is bad, you have less to pour out and clear out of the tank, lines and carb. basically if it don't start easy like you expect it too. try some diff fuel if you suspect your gas may of gotten bad.

The Octane numbers dropps after a while.
gasoline mixed with oil is not usable after 3 months.
its not usable, like it wont work? or its not usable like the octane levels are too low? im not sure if thats true or not. though i just strarted(this weakend) one of my rigs that has been sitting for 8 months. 3rd pull. this may pull up some contriversy, but our engines don't require high octane fuel like sugjested. there are plenty of cats running camp fuel with the same resoults. camp fuel is 50 octane. i have run it. no diffrence in performance. ($12.00 per gallon! but no smell). so unless the octane level are cut in half in 3 months, it will work just fine. and for you guys that are dumping your fuel, where are you dumping it? down the sewer? in the grass? hmm.

I had a bottle of glow fuel sitting for years, stuff went green but damn could it start my old Blitz better then the later stuff...probably doesn't apply though not being petrol based.

I have used coleman camp fuel..I get it for under 4$ a gal...I agree 50 % octane..
but you tune for what you are using...granted less power than gasoline..But hey no smell
Miss's don't mind the camp fuel used in my firehammer..My firehammer sits in the kitchen
No fuel in tank or fuel lines..and the exhaust is plugged.....I just lay a old towel over the firehammer....some times I spray fabric spary on the towel ..like fabrasha for a nice smell
for the miss's...I try to make a compromise with her....AKASlawhammer

Storage is alright for about 4-6 months. I still recommend using what you mix and not storing too much.
Oil will separate but can be shaken.
Make sure if you have a 2 gallon can that you do not leave only 1 gallon in it for storage. Evaporation and temperature change is your worst enemy. Keep it in a stable cold area for storage with a tight cap and almost full.
If its an Ethanol blend just use it up and don't store it due to the added condensation chance.
The light ends in the fuel are evaporated in extended storage and will bring down the Octane rating. Not enough to make a difference we can see.
