Pinion gear melting spur gear problem.

Hi guys.Got a self built nitro car off the missus for my birthday.Built it and started it up and it ran for about ten minutes on idle and then it reved up and cut out.When I looked at it it the pinion gear had melted the spur gear teeth.Did this ever happen to anyone else.?.The car is a Acme Condor Buggy and the engine is a Team infinity .15.Thanks in advance.

maybe the mesh was way to tight? so vola..?...melted spur☹
..I've melted many plastic spurs over the years on all sorts of different scale rc's☹....?

Mesh or engine could have shifted check and locktite screws
