My pinion gear seems to get eaten up and shredded between every 1-3 battery pack runs.

It's meshed well, I've done it by hand and set it with the motor gate pins and without the motor gate pins.

I have stock tires/wheels up front and then pro-line badlands in the rear. Are the different sized tires any kind of culprit for tearing apart the pinion gear?

Full disclosure, seems the pinion was getting eaten up prior to the tire replacements.

I’d buy a better pinion gear. Check out Saga. I’ve also had good luck with the cheap pinions from radiocontrolpower.com. Lastly, you may want to source a wider spur gear.

4wd and different size tires doesn't sound right to me ..........unless front and rear has different gearing to compensate.
Can't believe it would be helping you.

You need to run a tekno hardened pinion gear along with your choice of a hardened spur. I had the same issue with my x-maxx using the stock gears. The issue is how the stock pinion and spurs work, they use powdered metal in a die then pressed with tons of pressure followed by a high temperature hardening process. The gears a weak and brittle. Cnc pinion and spur is the only way to combat breaking teeth.
