Reed valves

Based on motorcycle practice of retro fitting reed valves to older 2 stoke motors i been considering a reed valve conversion for my Zenoah 26cc motor, even more so since seeing aftermarket crankcases adapted for reed valves. Anyone use a bolt on conversion or are they just too small for any real gain?

There was a little reed plate on my g320 from when I bought it, took it off didnt notice a difference. You'll likely not see much difference in a piston port engine, without some modifications to take advantage of the reed. Ie piston mods, and or mega intake mods. The reed acts like the piston for shutting off the intake cycle when the piston starts moving down. If you don't modify the piston and or the intake you'll not be seeing the gains, like a true case reed does.

Yeah, i was tempted to put a window in the piston to see if it did anything. Just looking at the reed valve it looks very small and I'm guessing may do more harm than good.
