Hi guys,
I'm brand new to this forum, but I've already found some pretty helpful advice here so I figured that this would be a good place to post my questions.

I bought a used KM-001 a couple of years ago and had a HUGE amount of fun with it. Launching it 8 feet in the air off of motorbike jumps was a blast!!! The guy I bought it from had already done some upgrades (including a really cool, well built, custom roll cage) but it only has the old 23cc engine. Last year the motor finally died on me but due to my financial situation at the time, I had to just put it on the shelf and make it wait. I think I'm finally ready to get it running again.

I've thought about just getting it fixed but I think I would rather buy a new, more powerful motor. It's just getting used for bashing so I'm not interested in a huge race motor or anything like that. I've been looking at either the Zenoah G320RC or the G290RC engines. Can any of you give me a good recommendation? Are these good reliable motors?

Also, most of my running gear is stock. What parts should I be upgrading when I put the bigger motor in?

Thanks.

Darren

I have the 290 and its a good motor, someone I run with just finally had his go, I think he had 15 gal. though it. Get the ddm pipe combo, thats the best deal, it comes with a clutch that way to.

I have and race both the G320 and G290. The 320 really needs looking after or it goes bang. G290 is a great engine, just make sure you use good quality oil.

Well that saves me a bit of money to go with the 290 as DDM has it on sale with a pipe right now. Thanks. What about other upgrades that I should do? Is the stock running gear enough to handle it? Thanks.

If you,ve launched it 8 ft off jumps and nothing has broken I,d say just get a motor and a pipe and go have fun. Maybe have a look at the clutch and the gears to see if they are badly worn. Otherwise run it till something does break then you;ll know where to start with future upgrades.

Oh, I didn't say that nothing broke. At least not the first time. :D
It took a few landings (both upright and inverted) before I broke parts, but I was still very happy with how it used to perform.

Thanks for the suggestion. I actually have a brand new clutch installed in it already so I should be good there, and the spur gear has pretty low time on it as well. I hope. I guess I'll find out soon enough. :)

Thanks guys.
