Does anyone use RTV sealant instead of gaskets when it comes to engine gaskets? I know that there is a sealant that can take up to 500-700 degrees in abuse and is oil resistant, so I figured I would ask.

If not, then does anyone buy their own gasket paper and trace them out? Specific brand/thickness to purchase?

any silicone sealant is not gas proof. the gas will dissolve it. best to use factory gaskets. it providedsthe required clearences on the cylinder to engine cases. If you feel you have to use sealant, try this-- Permatex moto seal.

Ahhh yes, forgot about that common sense factor that gas eats away more than nitro does :p

There has to be some liquid gasket that can withstand gas corrosion. I would assume that a thin coat of sealant would work just as well, if not better than a gasket since it actually seeps into the pores of the metal, causing a better seal?

Based off of the item description and loads of reviews, it looks like that MotorSeal is great and preferred by many professionals.

What kind do you use?

I just went to AutoZone and Advanced Auto and neither had the MotoSeal. Anything equivalent to that from Permatex?

Thank you. I ended up getting that MotoSeal.

For those of you that use this, do you use it for the intake, IM, exhaust, and the motor?
