So, I recently acquired my first 1/5 scale FG Sportline 04...after doing some searches, I discovered that there are only a few tracks in SoCal that have decent facilities for on-road, but none of them mention 1/5 scale classes or even facilities to accommodate weekend warriors. Crystal Park Raceway in Compton seems to have the best "looking" track for on-road, though I don't know how well it will deal with a largescale car on it. The other track, Revelation Raceway in Montclair, I have not seen any pictures of the on-road facilities (if any), so it is possible that any 1/5 scale racing there is entirely off-road (FG Marders, Monster Trucks?). Anyway...my question is, does anyone know of any tracks local to the Los Angeles area that run events and races for 1/5 scale on-road machines? Or does most everyone who runs them go to Crystal Park or Revelation? Any preferences among us for certain places?

we have even less available here in MI than you do in Cali.

I am finding local peeps and hopeing to set up an area to go around here. maybe if we get enough continues racers, we can organize a bit more and get a more dedicated facility somewhere.

Yeah, it's hard to tell, since 1/5 scale is actually not a popular class in the states. I've seen pictures a few friends of mine have taken of their organized races in Germany and Poland, though, and it is nuts! There must have been at least a few hundred 1/5 entries in that class (GTP, my favorite)...made me jealous.

The track itself was sick. I've never seen a track that required headlights and tailights on j00r car! LOL...maybe that was just to add to the effect.

You can get info on the NATC series here:

Nine races in the series, six in the LA area. Check out the schedule and you will have good tracks to run on...

Revelation on road shut down, Crystal Park does not run 5th scale.

Thanks, RandyW, I was able to locate a couple of offerings that will work great. I'll be headed to RCX and the NATC races held there this weekend, so I'm kind of stoked to see it all in action. The car is almost finished (waiting on an alloy servo tray and some brake components) and then it will be ready to rock! :)

did you ever get to crystal park, he never lets me run there unless thers 5 or more drives coming, i heard sv speedway is setting up races. hows your build coming allong, i just got a fg onroad rig yesterday and i feel like a kid again, cant wait to get racing onroad. where about do you live.

No, actually, I've been so busy with other projects I've had little time for my FG. This weekend has been a bit of a break, though, and I've been playin' around with it a bit.

I'm in Long Beach, the last race I went to was actually the NATC race they had at RCX. While I had a blast, I've run into a snag with my car which is preventing me from joining the series. That, coupled with time, has really put the binders on my hobby.

In answer to your other question, though, the car is close to finished...I have pictures of the project in another thread (it's under 'Say Hello to my Lil' Fren!'). At some point, I need to see about finishing 'er up, but I've no idea when that will be.
