You may allready know this. If not, this will help. 99.9% of home electronics are metric.- Vcr s have a wealth of nuts, bolts, springs, washers. even the plastic and metal cases can be used to build. Another place for a few shouldered nuts is an old beater c-b radio. No need to be shy removing these componets. just use a good set of side cutters on the plastic- then put the cut up parts in a vise to allow a good grip on the nuts-bolts. This has saved my weekends running more than once, free is good!

Good idea...

I've always saved extra hardware, but never thought of the electronics.

I work in an 80k sf Computer server facility and have used screws/ nuts on many occasions....Also found thumb screws for the radio box!

Yea, when the dog and I go to the dump- transfer station, thats the pretty way of putting it! lol! There is a container for electronics. Its a free gold mine for stuff. ferrite chokes on the computer cables- the side cutters makes recycling this easy and quick. I always ask first, they say go for it. the dog loves the smell there ---- the lady at the scale feeds him dog yummies. agan, free is good!
