Can anyone tell me how adjust spur and pinion gear mesh on my KM t1000,im replacing my spur due to wear. I put my new spur on and mesh is way to tight.:o Any info would help,Thanks in advance
P.S. this forum ROCKS!!!!!

I'm not familiar with the engine mounting of this kit, but normally you simply loosen (NOT remove) the engine mount screws, place a piece of cardboard between the two gears, move the motor slightly until the card (Cornflakes, etc) is firm but the gears can move, ensure the alignment is STRAIGHT (very important for gear longevity), tighten 2 opposing screws to hold in position and turn the gears to remove the card.
You should have a little slack (perhaps 1mm) but the meshing must be consistent.
Before you fully tighten the motor screws, check one complete rotation of the spur and pinion, to see there's no binding from ovalling (some gears are not as 'round' as you may hope!!).

NOW, tighten the mount screws and repeat the check.

Sorted.

Something like that,
loosen the 3 engine mount screws from under the chassis.
loosen the screw on the clutch carrier and A frame.
loosen the 4 screws on the spur/pinion gear plate, just have 2 (far left and far right in place) and tighten the far left up.

slide on the spur and rotate, slide the engine until its a nice fit, tighten up the 3 engine screws underneath.
rotate spur again to make sure its still meshed ok.
tighten screw on clutch carrier and A frame.
take spur off and tighten up the screws on the gear plate.
refit the spur, it should now be meshed up ok.

try it anyway.

Hey Jackobyte I tried they way you said,I had evrthing off or loose and it just seems like these things don't have much adjustment, mesh is still tight. I may have found the reason this wore out so soon, the pinion wasnt all that straight,So I took it off and reinsatlled spins much truer now. Thanks for the advice im gonna run it and see what happens.
