hi guys,
when i first got my marder I spent months basically trying to get the highest speed out it .it did 38mph. I changed from a 23cc to a 28.5,then put a jetpro on it ,the best i got was 54mph by changing from stock gears to 22/40, i tried 20/44 but didnt have the revs/power to pull to the top so this is where i got stuck.
well after not bothering for a while im going to start again and see what i can do,a few of my mates are also going to be doing the same, ive changed the 16 layshaft for a 17t, with the help of the dremal, but now i think i will change that to a 18, so the ratio i will try is 18/48( lay/diff) and on the outside 38/26.I will use the taller fg baja wheels as i don't have a tall enough ratio to use smaller wheels, im keeping the jetpro topend pipe as its great for top speed runs and changing to a smaller engine for better revs.also the engine will have to have more power to get there, ive changed the camber and toe back for the hi speed stuff and that. ill keep a log of changes and pictures of the gps readouts of the speed.im obviously hoping to get some serious speeds but we'll have to see what happeneds lol(you know how things sometimes don't go to plan with this stuff)
thankyou

what speeds are you shooting for

what speeds are you shooting for
im not sure what to expect, i have achieved 54mph on gps, which is easily done with a marder with a stock 26/29cc engine and a good pipe, and the right gear ratio.
over here in the uk, rc drag racing etc isnt as big as in the states,
thats why you guys have fg's almost hitting 3 figures ,its nothing new, over here i never really see fg marders /bajas getting much over 60 mph.
i also need to find a better place to run ,but if all goes well i should easily top 60 mph, but will also need to get a friend of mine to make me up some taller ratios.
thankyou,

look up doral drags on youtube thats a 560ft drag race we cross the finish line between 70mph and 80mph. We also run top speed runs on that same street just end to end thats about 1300ft and the speeeds pick up but you loose alot of launch, we found that 560ft is the sweet spot for top end guys and drag racers to meet and race

or just strap a jet engine to it lol:lol:
started running the engine in, 1st tank almost done, already i can see that its more powerful than the other piston ported engines i have had, they don't come close, and i haven't even tuned it yet, very promising so far,but still early days, ive been looking for a powerful engine for the marder for ages, i feel ive finally found what ive been looking for!!!!!
