anyone know if the tt or another steering rack fits the xb/xb-e? the servo saver spring is way too soft and too much flex for me. any help would be appreciated

I'm been thinking about this too. I'll pull the TT rack off tonight and check it on my XB chassis since I have it stripped down. Hopefully, the steering plate fits right since we need it for the upper arm hingepins.

cool thanks, didn't want to waste the money on an experiment. maybe a new ackerman bar can be machined in needed

I'll get is mocked up tonight or tommorrow with some pics. I think the ackerman will be really close to the diff housing. We may need to banana it a little to get it to clear. Still... it'll be alot stiffer than the flexible stock bellcrank arms and that iddy bitty rod.

Good news. The TT/MT steering setup will work with some washers/spacers. Here's the skinny on it:The XB steering posts are about 4-5mm longer than the TT/MT posts. So when you insert the bellcranks on them the post stick up past the top of the bellcrank. So you have two options. Washer the bottom to push the bellcranks up or just washer the top. Option 1 - Washer the bottom: This raises the bellcranks up so the top of the post and top of the bellcrank are flush. It just turns out that the XB brass bellcrank bushings are exactly the right width. This creates a problem though. Since the bellcranks are raised the steering ackerman which rides under the front outdrive cup is raised also and it comes into contact with the cup. You need to use washers to push it back down.Option 1 - Washer the top: This keeps the bellcranks sitting on the floor and the ackerman clears the diff cup fine. The problem with this is the balljoint bolt threads come into contact with the diff's rear hingepin holder. Check the pics. The only way to make it clear is to go with Option #1 and trim the threads a little. So option 1 is the winner.

Did you tighten up the spring more strodedawg ?. Did that help ?
yes i did, but the servo wasn't protected as much. with my radio on i could deflect by hand the wheels very easily even when tightened down a bit. it was hurting my lap times by giving me some push.

demonrc

the new rack spins on bearings doesn't it? do you a part number for so i may i order it tommorrow lol

just orderd ugraded towers and new bell cranks 50012 w/ new bushings

sweet

Hey, I just found a better way to mount the bellcranks. If you turn them upside down the ackerman AND the balljoints clear with zero issues. This just leaves 1 problem. The steering balljoint that connects the linkage between the servo and the bellcrank is now on the bottom of the arm with the nut on the top. There's no way to mount the balljoint on the top or the arm because the nut is up there. If I can find a balljoint with a longer thread you could get it to work. I'll post some pics after dinner.

Here's the pics. Everything fits in fine. I just need to figure out the steering balljoint issue.
